I love the scent of lavender and often see lavender sachets packaged in synthetic material or pouches like nylon or organza.
Wanting to enjoy lavender packaged in a natural material, I filled up one of our own hand-made abaca pouches with lavender. The combination is a nice East/West and earth-friendly gift — with East as the abaca plants from the Philippines, and West with lavender grown in California.
The Class A, hand-woven abaca textile is a terrific container for the flower buds, while at the same time, porous enough to release the calming essence of the lavender flower buds.
And keeping with Native Leaf’s themes, we are happy to work with growers of natural (pesticide-free) lavender, here in Monterey County, where we are based.
Below are pictures I took when I visited the lavender farm. The fields were harvested just prior to my visit, but you can still see some plants with stems of lavender.
Here is a picture, courtesy of the farm, with the lavender plants in full blossom beauty.
We now offer these lovely gifts in our market, in our abaca pouch colors of (from top of picture) Orchid Pink, Natural and Eggplant as well as (bottom of picture) Moss Green, Mango and Terra Cotta.
